Seven months after criminal kingpin Mark Lifman was shot dead in George, another heavyweight in Cape Town's underworld has been fatally gunned down in broad daylight.
Andre Naudé was reportedly with bodyguards in Voortrekker Road yesterday afternoon when gunmen pulled up alongside his vehicle and opened fire.
The 55-year-old died at the scene, and another man was left injured.

"Underworld figures do live very dangerous lives by nature of their occupation."

In November last year, Naudé had claimed that he was targeted by gunmen while driving on the N1.
The same month, Lifman was fatally shot in the parking lot of the Garden Route Mall in George.
"It would make sense in that he was a very, very close and loyal associate of Mark Lifman; they were always seen together."

Hyman describes the current state of Cape Town's underworld as being 'strange'.
"Since Cyril Beeka was killed in 2011, I don't think there's been a situation that resembles anything we have now."

Naudé was an accused in a murder case along with the Sexy Boys gang boss and Jerome 'Donkie' Booysen, who was on the scene shortly after the shooting.
Lifman, Booysen, and Naudé have all made appearances in the Cape High Court, where they are accused of the 2017 murder of Brian Wainstein, dubbed the 'steroid king'. That murder trial continues.
