DURBAN - More than 400 homes have been affected by the recent inclement weather conditions in KwaZulu-Natal.

Hailstorms, heavy downpours and thunderstorms hit parts of the province for two days this past week.

The provincial government said that a rapid response was needed for weather-related emergencies.

Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli said that while this remained a crisis, no lives were lost.

"In Mpendle alone, more than 100 houses... I saw the pictures. Fortunately, there were no fatalities."
