CAPE TOWN - Talks to end a feud between the Cape Organisation for the Democratic Taxi Association (CODETA) and the Cape Amalgamated Taxi Association (CATA) have once again deadlocked.

The negotiations between CATA and CODETA follow several fatal shootings related to a dispute about a route from Mfuleni to Somerset West.

At least seven taxi operators from the two organisations were shot and killed last week.

CODETA spokesperson Makhosandile Tumana has told EWN that both CODETA and CATA could not reach a desired agreement over the Mfuleni to Somerset West taxi route.

This is not the first time engagements have stalled between the two taxi associations since the deadly violence erupted about two weeks ago.

Tumana said both organisations have agreed to continue talks in the hope of finding a long-lasting solution to their differences.

He added that there is a little light at the end of the tunnel.

Another meeting between the rival taxi associations is scheduled for next week Tuesday.
