JOHANNESBURG - Ekurhuleni law enforcement has arrested a man in connection with the murder of two metro police officers.
The 37-year-old suspect was apprehended on Friday during a joint crime intelligence operation.
The officers were shot and killed last week and robbed of their service firearms in the Umthambeka section of Tembisa.
The pair had just reported for night duty when they came under attack.
Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) spokesperson Thabiso Makgato said investigations were still underway to track down other suspects involved.
"This tragic loss of two officers highlights the danger faced by law enforcement in the line of duty. However, the EMPD remains committed to protecting and ensuring the safety of its officers and the community."
