CAPE TOWN - National Police Commissioner Fanie Masemola said Operation Shanela Two will be focused on serious and violent crimes.
Masemola was speaking at the launch of the operation in Belhar, Cape Town, on Thursday.
He also addressed an integrated parade of law enforcement officers who will be deployed as part of the new plan.
"We are going to be more dedicated, focused on specifics. We’re going to focus on specific people, that we want for, be it violent crime, gender-based violence, people that skipped bail, people that have skipped appeals, we're going to focus on those.”
Masemola said Operation Shanela Two will target crime hotspots in all provinces.
“Our main hotspot province is this very province of Western Cape, followed by, they’re not following each other in any order, but we have Gauteng, we have KZN, and we have the Eastern Cape. So those four provinces are our main hotspots where the majority of our violent crimes are happening."
