JOHANNESBURG - Two suspects have been killed in a shootout with police following a failed cash-in-transit heist in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).
Officers said the gang was intercepted while driving in Msinga on Thursday night.
When officers approached, the suspects opened fire, leading to a shootout.
KZN police spokesperson Jay Naicker said two criminals who survived the shooting have been "arrested for being in illegal possession of firearms and ammo, as well as attempted murder".
He added: “Preliminary investigations have revealed that one of the arrested men is a former employee of a private security company. The suspects will appear in Msinga Magistrates Court soon, and investigations are ongoing.”
