CAPE TOWN - The Correctional Services Department (DCS) said operations are back on track at Pollsmoor prison following a stabbing incident which led to a two-week lockdown of the facility.
According to the department, a prison warder was stabbed by an inmate on June 27.
The corrections centre was on lockdown, and visitors were not permitted to enter.

Department spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo said a preliminary investigation revealed that a group of inmates had hatched a plan to attack the prison guard.
Nxumalo said the lockdown has since been lifted, and an investigation into the matter was ongoing.
"Those offenders involved will face the full might of the law and the official has been released from hospital. What we can state as the department is that such acts are not welcomed in our facilities, and sadly when officials have to restore order and at times use of force has to be used, it then results in the unfortunate cases, things that we do not want to see."
