JOHANNESBURG - The R71 in Limpopo has been closed to traffic following a massive crash on Wednesday morning, resulting in explosions.

It’s understood that a truck carrying gas cylinders crashed and caught fire in Magoebaskloof.

This resulted in multiple explosions, and it also set a nearby plantation above Ruskamp ablaze.

Acting provincial transport spokesperson Matome Taueatsoala said emergency services were on the scene, working to contain the situation.

"The Department of Transport and Community Safety in Limpopo urges all motorists to exercise caution and prioritise their safety. We will provide updates as more information becomes available."
