POLOKWANE - The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) said there is no issue of ill-discipline within its Polokwane caucus, despite two of its ward councillors leaving their positions due to misconduct.

In 2024, the EFF’s Jacob Seshoka resigned as Polokwane’s ward 10 councillor after being arrested for possession of stolen firearms.

The EFF subsequently lost that ward to the African National Congress (ANC).

On Wednesday, it was the by-election for Polokwane’s Ward 13 after EFF councillor Mafiwa Leballo was expelled by council for non-attendance at meetings.

EFF leader Julius Malema, who voted in the Ward 13 by-election, said both issues have been handled.

“In the EFF, there is no problem of ill-discipline, that’s why you can try to split hair because you know generally there is no crisis of ill-discipline in the EFF. You speak about Ward 10, you speak about here [Ward 13], and those are two incidents out of a membership of 1.5 million - find something else.”
