JOHANNESBURG - The City of Tshwane has confirmed that maintenance work at Rand Water's Hartebeeshoek Reservoir has been completed.
But the municipality said reservoirs feeding the city remain empty for now.
The water utility finished cleaning and inspecting the reservoir on Friday, ahead of its 16-day deadline.
Supply to various parts of region 1 was interrupted during the maintenance, forcing the city to deploy water tankers to affected areas.
The city is urging residents, especially in low-lying areas, to use water sparingly once supply returns.
"Once the network is fully pressurised, the levels of the reservoirs will start picking up. Residents are urged to exercise patience during the supply restoration period as the network takes time to recover before it reaches the required pressure,” said spokesperson Lindela Mashigo.
