Volunteers from non-profit organisation, Ladles of Love spent Mandela Day making sandwiches for underprivileged members of society, at Cape Town Stadium.
EWN spoke to some volunteers who shared what Mandela Day means to them.
"Now that we can share all these different cultures, different races, different sexes, different ethnicities, that's all I wanted to see growing up, just oneness throughout.”
Another one said, “I think it's more about giving people like opportunities and kind of motivate them to keep pushing because I feel like when you're struggling it's kind of hard to keep fighting and to try to make your future bigger than what it is.”
"So, I'm here today to come spend 67 minutes of Mandela Day, creating crafts for the disadvantaged, I myself coming from a previously disadvantage communities I know how it feels to not have a birthday present.”
