Volkswagen South Africa issues recall for Polo Sedans over seat belt risk

Volkswagen South Africa is recalling 18 Polo Sedan vehicles sold from 11 August 2022 onward because of a fault with the driver's seat belt.

According to the National Consumer Commission, the issue originated from a manufacturing error where the seat belt webbing on the driver's side may have been improperly installed.

This defect presents a serious risk of injury or even death in the event of an accident.

If you own one of these vehicles, Volkswagen is asking you to take it to any of its approved dealerships.

They will check the seat belt and replace it at no cost, if needed.
