Cash-in-transit van, several homes damaged in explosion in Thokoza

JOHANNESBURG - Law enforcement teams, including a bomb squad, are combing through the scene of an explosion in Thokoza, Ekurhuleni, after a cash-in-transit van suddenly went up in flames on Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred a short while ago, and several homes were damaged as a result, including the fence of the nearby Umzamo Primary School.

A manhunt for the suspects is underway.

Mahoro Street has been cordoned off to traffic as the bomb unit searches through the area looking for any signs of explosives.
At this stage, no arrests or injuries have been reported.
Police have completely closed off the area, with community members cautioned to move as far away from the area as possible.
This as they await the go-ahead from the bomb team to move forward with further investigations.
The G4S van has been completely damaged, with glass and other debris littered all around the area.
Several homes have been left with damaged windows and blown-off roofs as a result of the explosion.
One community member told EWN that they heard four explosions go off before hearing what they have described as gunshots.
For now, police say they are unable to provide further details as investigations continue.
