CAPE TOWN - A new interim board and CEO have been appointed at the Two Oceans Marathon.

Earlier this year, the race came under fire when a shortage of medals resulted in some participants not receiving one after finishing their race.

Two Oceans approved more participants than what was agreed on with the City of Cape Town, which also resulted in a shortage of toilets and water stations.

Stuart Mann, a new board member, said that they would meet with the city this Friday to begin restoring trust in the race.

"The big issue right now is to restore trust with the City of Cape Town. Obviously, after the permit was violated in the half marathon, they've withdrawn their support, their sponsorship, and they will not grant a permit for next year's race unless they see major changes in the organisation of the race."
