Case against former municipal manager linked to Magaqa death remanded for legal representation

DURBAN - The case against a former municipal manager linked to the 2017 murder of African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) leader Sindiso Magaqa has been remanded for legal representation.
Zweliphansi Sikhosana was a municipal manager at the Umzimkhulu Local Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal, where Magaqa worked as a councillor before he was shot in July 2017.

Sikhosana was previously arrested back in 2018 in connection with the murder but was released due to a lack of evidence.
He was rearrested in Durban by the South African Police Service (SAPS) Political Task Team yesterday.
“Skhosana appeared today in the Umzimkhulu Magistrates Court. He appeared on charges of conspiracy to commit murder, murder, unlawful possession of a prohibited firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and defeating the administration of justice. The case was remanded to 01 August 2025 for the defence to appoint counsel for the bail application,” said National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Natasha Ramkisson Kara.
