DURBAN - The former municipal manager linked to the murder of former African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) secretary-general, Sindiso Magaqa will return to court on Friday.
Stanley Sikhosana will make his second court appearance in the Umzimkhulu Magistrate's Court.
He's charged with conspiracy to commit murder, murder, unlawful possession of a prohibited firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition as well as defeating the administration of justice.
Sikhosana was the municipal manager of the Umzimkhulu Local Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal, where Magaqa worked as a councillor.
Magaqa was shot execution style in the area in 2017.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson, Natasha Ramkisson Kara: "The matter returns to the Umzimkhulu Magistrate's Court. On the previous appearance, the State was advised by the defence that they intend on appointing counsel who will undertake the bail application."
Meanwhile, the ANCYL in the province said it believes Sikhosana had a case to answer to.
Provincial chairperson, Ntokozo Ngcobo: "The former municipal manager must not receive bail because he is a danger to the society. He’s never showed remorse from the beginning, so with those reasons, we strongly believe that our judicial system will do the correct thing."
