For the first time in the 98-year existence of the Athlone School for the Blind, 287 learners will have an opportunity to add computer lessons to their curriculum.

CAPE TOWN - Parents of learners at Athlone School for the Blind are excited that their children will be able to use computers for the first time.
 
This has been made possible by the humanitarian aid organisation Gift of the Givers, after donating 15 blind-friendly computers.
 
The school's principal, Gail Williams, also welcomed the donation.
 
For the first time in the 98-year existence of the Athlone School for the Blind, 287 learners will have an opportunity to add computer lessons to their curriculum.
 
The school's SGB chairperson, Bukelwa Sigila, lauded this as a huge milestone.
 
"Giving our children an opportunity and showing them that they matter the most, regardless of their disability, is something that we as parents appreciate and we are grateful for that."
 
The learners have also thanked Gift of the Givers for the support.
