Police probing double murder case in Philippi following shooting incident

CAPE TOWN - Police members have registered a double murder case in Philippi following a shooting incident.  

A 44-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman were shot in Strandfontein, Thursday evening.

The suspects responsible for the crime remain at large.

Police spokesperson Malcolm Pojie said the motive behind the incident is believed to be gang-related.  

"Philippi SAPS members were dispatched to the scene where they discovered that the deceased have succumbed to gunshot wounds to their upper bodies."
