DURBAN - Five men accused of killing rapper Kiernan "AKA" Forbes and businessman Tebello "Tibz" Motsoane will return to the Durban High Court on Wednesday for another pre-trial conference.
The conference was postponed to 13 August due to outstanding witness statements from the State.
Forbes and Motsoane were shot in Durban two years ago in an assassination hit targeting the rapper.
It has been over a year since the group of men accused of killing rapper Forbes and his friend, Motsoane, were arrested and despite the State having long declared its readiness, the case has still not been certified trial-ready.
During a previous court appearance in July, Judge Jacqueline Henriques called out the State, saying it needed to get its house in order.
This after the defence raised concerns that there were some witness statements that they'd not been furnished with in the matter.
The court will on Wednesday hear if all the outstanding issues between the State and defense have been addressed before determining a way forward.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson, Natasha Ramkisson Kara: "The five men charged with the February 2023 murder of AKA as well as Tebello Motsoane returns to the Durban High Court today. The man are charged with conspiracy to commit murder, two counts of murder as well as firearms and ammunition charges, amongst other charges. The case returns to court for further pre-trial engagements."
Previously in court, trial dates were predicated for some time next year.
