DURBAN - Former President Jacob Zuma’s daughter will stand trial in November in relation to the 2021 July unrest.
Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla is charged with incitement to commit terrorism and incitement to commit public violence.
The charges are linked to the unrest that led to widespread looting and left public infrastructure in KwaZulu-Natal and parts of Gauteng damaged.
Zuma-Sambudla returned to the Durban High Court for a pre-trial conference on Thursday.
She is accused of encouraging the July 2021 riots after supporters demanded her father be released from the Escourt Correctional Facility and went on a looting spree.
Zuma was given a 15-month prison sentence for contempt of court.
It’s alleged that Zuma-Sambudla used social media to spur on the looting by sharing some of the incidents caught on video with the caption: "We see you."
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Natasha Ramkisson-Kara said trial dates have been set.
"The judge in the matter certified the matter trial ready and the matter was adjourned to the 10th of November for trial. The trail has been set down for the 10th to the 21st of November 2025."
The prosecution said it believes it has a watertight case.
