DURBAN - The Lusikisiki massacre trial has adjourned until next week.

Six men, linked to the mass murder, face charges of conspiracy to commit murder, 18 counts of murder as well as firearms and ammunition-related charges.

They’re accused of murdering 18 people in Ngobozana Village in Lusikisiki.

The third week of the Lusikisiki massacre trial has now concluded.

On Friday, relatives of some of the victims were called to testify in the trial.

Their rather short testimonies focused on the identification of the deceased bodies hours after the gruesome incident.

The father of one of the victims shared the experience of having to identify the body of his only daughter, just months after he had buried his son.

Another witness detailed the harrowing task of identifying six of his relatives, including his two aunts and cousins.

State prosecutor Nkululeko Mathenjwa then asked that the matter to be adjourned to next week Tuesday to allow for new witnesses to be called.
