CAPE TOWN - School sessions continued without interference in Lotus River on Friday after a shooting incident on Thursday afternoon.

Police have been patrolling the area since yesterday and this morning escorted learners on the way to school.

The Western Cape Education Department has informed EWN that schools will continue as normal.

Lotus River residents said there haven’t been any shooting incidents in a while, and the incident was unexpected.

CPF Chairperson in Grassy Park, Nicole Jacobus, said, "These shootings are seasonal and when I say seasonal, it's shooting now, then it dies out, and then they start shooting again. At this present moment, in any area of shooting, it's a concern for our communities, it's a concern for us as residents, as we don't know when the shooting will take place, and it can happen at any point at any time.”
