CAPE TOWN - The man convicted of killing a woman outside the Wynberg Magistrate's Court in 2023 has told the court that he can't show remorse for a crime he didn't commit.
Mandisi Mofu took the stand in the Western Cape High Court on Monday ahead of his sentencing for shooting Christine Gumira to death while she walked out of the Wynberg Magistrate's court building.
Gumira was a murder accused who turned state witness when she was murdered.
Mofu has been convicted of her murder, and attempted murder of two other people, as well as the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Ahead of Mandisi Mofu’s sentencing, his lawyer has acknowledged the seriousness of the crimes committed by his client.
Mofu is facing a maximum sentence of life imprisonment for killing Gumira.
However, his lawyer has asked the court to show mercy on Mofu AS a first-time offender.
Adding that his client may not have understood the gravity of his actions due to his lack of cognitive development after dropping out of school in the 9th grade at 16 years old.
"When, as if he is remorseful for the crime he's convicted of, Mafu told the prosecution that he can't say he's remorseful because he never killed anyone and did not have a firearm."
Sentencing proceedings continue.
