JOHANNESBURG - Three suspects have been killed in a shootout with Hawks officers in Pretoria.

Law enforcement agencies approached a house in Mamelodi East on Tuesday night after receiving information that a group of people were in possession of illegal firearms.

Hawks spokesperson Christopher Singo said four suspects opened fire at the officers, sparking a shootout.

"One suspect fled the scene. The police recovered one AR rifle and two pistols."
