7 suspects nabbed after taxi-related shootout in Hout Bay

CAPE TOWN - Seven suspects have been arrested in Imizamo Yethu following a taxi-related shooting incident on Thursday night.
The Hout Bay Fire Department informed police about several people who had arrived at the station with gunshot wounds.
Two victims died, while five victims are undergoing treatment for their injuries.
Police spokesperson FC Van Wyk said the suspects will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates Court once charged.
“The motive for this shooting incident forms part of the police's continued investigation. Seven suspects aged between 19 and 31 were arrested, and two firearms were recovered. These firearms will be subjected to ballistic testing.”
The City’s MMC for Safety and Security, JP Smith, said the suspects were stopped through the brave efforts of private security companies.
“Next month, we will launch the Neighbourhood Safety Officers within Metro Police, which will consist of officers dedicated to each ward in the city.”
