Man due in court for allegedly killing ex-girlfriend, confessing on social media

JOHANNESBURG - A 26-year-old man will appear in the Temba Magistrate's Court on Monday for allegedly killing his ex-girlfriend and confessing on social media.
He allegedly stabbed the victim outside a tavern in Maubane in the North West last Thursday.
He then attacked his current girlfriend with a knife at her home on the same night.
The suspect was arrested on Friday and faces a charge of murder and attempted murder.
The 26-year-old man is accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend, Kgaogelo Marota, outside a tavern in Maubane, in the North West.
It’s understood that the two had an altercation when the suspect stabbed Marota and filmed her lifeless body lying on the ground.
The police's Adele Myburgh: "Marota was declared dead on the scene by emergency services. Further investigations revealed that the suspect went back to his house, where he stabbed his current girlfriend multiple times."
He recorded the video where he apologised for the attack, saying he loved her and could not reverse killing her.
He was subsequently arrested, while his current girlfriend was hospitalised.
