JOHANNESBURG - The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is calling on retired Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga to distance himself from the South African Police Service (SAPS) commission of inquiry, which it has called "tainted".
On Tuesday, the Madlanga Commission announced that it will not begin its work on the 1st of September as scheduled due to procurement issues.

Last month, KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, made allegations of criminality, political interference and corruption in the criminal justice system, leading to the establishment of the judicial commission of inquiry.
The commission has blamed the Justice Department for failing to procure vital infrastructure within the agreed-upon deadline.
EFF national spokesperson Sinawo Tambo said this is yet another deliberate ploy by the government to stifle accountability from people who have been implicatedin high-level corruption within the security cluster.
"We, therefore, urge Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga to request that he step aside from this disgraced and fake process, which will taint his legacy in the legal profession. It is clear that he is being used as a pawn in a process that seeks to undermine the frustrations of South Africans with crime, and his outcry at deliberate sabotage should be followed by a resignation."
Meanwhile, the justice ministry is set to brief the media about the postponement of the Madlanga Commission hearings.
