DA says EWN’s Tshidi Madia distinguished herself through fearless reporting

JOHANNESBURG - As tributes continue to pour in for esteemed political journalist Tshidi Madia, the Democratic Alliance (DA) said she distinguished herself through her fearless reporting.

EWN's associate political editor passed away in hospital on Wednesday morning, following a short illness.

Echoing condolences shared by other parties in the political space on Wednesday afternoon, DA national spokesperson, Willie Aucamp, said the relationship they'd built with the formidable journalist over time was one of immense trust.

"The contribution to South Africa's news and current affairs will be remembered with deep respect. Our condolences to her family and friends. May her soul rest in peace."

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) said her professional journey reflected commitment and dedication to journalism, while RISE Mzansi's Mabine Seabe said her warm, yet direct way of interrogating politicians and other public figures will be sorely missed.

"If indeed journalism is the first draft of history, what Matshidiso Madia said and wrote will be a draft without edits. Tshidi, as she was more commonly known as, was a no-nonsense, fearless and unbiased practitioner who plied her trade with passion, love and accuracy."
