Gauteng’s political killings task team to be launched in next 4 weeks: Masemola

JOHANNESBURG - National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola said Gauteng’s political killings task team will be launched in the next four weeks.
Masemola made the announcement on Thursday after saying the KwaZulu-Natal task team will resume its investigation into 121 dockets that were snatched from the unit allegedly by crime detection boss Shadrack Sibiya.

He said the team in Gauteng would be comprised of police officers from across the country.
"We have seen in KwaZulu-Natal, normally, the locals don’t work for us. It’s best if you choose a team from the rest of the country to go and do specific investigations.
"Not that there are no locals, there are, but very few, but for such a team to be successful, it needs to be integrated with members coming from the whole country."
