In the USA, the Powerball jackpot has risen to $1.3 billion, the fifth-largest prize in the game’s history.

This after there was no winning ticket on Monday, 1 September 2025.

The winning numbers drawn were 8, 23, 25, 40, 53, and 5 as the Powerball.

The next draw is on Wednesday night.

Per Forbes, the ticket holder matching all five white balls and the red Powerball can choose between a payout over 30 annual payments of about $23.1 million or a one-time lump sum cash payout of about $500 million.

Annual payments are subject to a 37% federal tax, while the lump sum is subject to a mandatory 24% tax, in addition to the 37% federal tax.

“It’s just this bizarre thought that you can win the Powerball in the US and you can become one of their billionaires…”
