JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi said the provincial government plans to employ 45,000 young people in the next two months.
This will be achieved through the provincial government’s Nasi Ispani mass recruitment programme.
The successful applicants will be trained in construction, automotive and plumbing work on 24-month contracts.
Addressing beneficiaries in Katlehong on Thursday, Lesufi said his focus was to deal with youth unemployment.
"We are on a hunt to get 45,000 unemployed people in the next two months. We hope and wish that you will be among the 45,000. This is the beginning. It is how strong and committed you are that will determine how you will take this trip further."
