NPA welcomes court decision to deny alleged crime boss Vusi 'Cat' Matlala bail

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has welcomed Wednesday’s magistrate's court ruling, denying alleged crime boss Vusi "Cat Matlala"  bail.

Matlala, who is facing attempted murder charges for an alleged hit on his socialite girlfriend, Tebogo Thobejane, appeared in the court in Alexandra on Wednesday.

The court ruled that evidence presented by the State showed he had the potential to evade trial.

Magistrate Syta Prinsloo highlighted the discrepancies in Matlala’s Home Affairs records and his alleged possession of an eSwatini ID.
