The State prosecutor in the Phala Phala burglary trial has slammed his own witness, saying their testimony is "improper".

The State called its third witness, a man who allegedly transported the people who robbed President Cyril Ramaphosa’s farmhouse in Limpopo to Gauteng.

Imanuwela David, along with siblings Floriana and Ndilinasho Joseph, are accused of breaking into President Cyril Ramaphosa’s game farm in February 2020 and stealing $580,000 in cash.

The driver, who cannot be named, testified that he transported accused number one, Imanuwela David, from Limpopo to Rustenburg and then Gauteng. This was after David had allegedly stolen the money from the Phala Phala game farm.

Speaking through an interpreter, the driver said that he dropped David and two of his friends at a car dealership where they purchased a vehicle.

"Before they left, they gave me the money we had agreed upon," the witness said.

The driver said he was paid R7,000. When asked by the prosecutor if there was anything else he received, he said no.

State prosecutor Nkhwtheni Munyai said the driver’s testimony was inconsistent with the statement he gave to the police.
