Gauteng Taxi Association chairperson Thami Moyo was shot on the Soweto highway on Thursday afternoon.

The Gauteng Transport Department said the circumstances surrounding the incident are unclear at this stage.

It said it is awaiting a preliminary report from police, who are currently on the crime scene.
