Civil society movement Not-In-My-Name is calling on the Madlanga Commission, government, and the public to use the inquiry as a platform to restore justice.
The commission was established by President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier this year, following a shocking media briefing by Kwazulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
Mkhwanazi alleged political interference in the internal operations of the South African Police Services (SAPS).
The movement’s Themba Masango said that Not-In-My-Name supports the provincial commissioner, praising Mkhwanazi’s courage during his testimony at the commission.
"His unwavering commitment to speaking truth to power has illuminated the severe malfeasance and ethical decay festering at the highest levels of our politics and criminal justice system. For too long shadowing networks have operated with impunity manipulating state institutions for personal and political gain, eroding public trust and undermining the very foundations of our constitutional democracy.”
