National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola claims Police Minister Senzo Mchunu issued the instruction to disband the KZN Political Killings Task Team because he didn't believe there were politically motivated killings pre-1994.
Masemola is delivering his second day of testimony at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, sitting at the Brigitte Mabandla Justice College in Pretoria.

He referred to a meeting on March 6, in Cape Town, when police management met to discuss various issues contained in Mchunu's December 31 letter – specifically instructions to disband the task team and freeze crucial posts within crime intelligence.
"I asked the Minister, 'Minister, can you provide for these officers that are here? What is the reason for disbanding this Political Killings Task Team? Later in that meeting, he responded: 'Political killings took place somewhere pre-1994 and not after."
