Police have fired rubber bullets at Kokosi protesting residents on Johannesburg's West Rand who have blocked the N12 highway.
Scores of people are marching on Tuesday, calling for water that has been off for more than a month to be restored.
The water cuts are due to the Merafong Municipality's R1.4 billion debt to Rand Water.
Frustrated residents have now moved from Kokosi township and are on the N12, where they have blocked the highway.
Police fired tear gas and rubber bullets at protesters causing traffic delays.
