Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Blade Nzimande has praised China’s rapid development, calling it a beacon of innovation and modernisation.

Nzimande was delivering South Africa’s official congratulatory message at the celebration of the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, held in Pretoria and hosted by the Chinese ambassador.

The event brought together ministers, political leaders, and business representatives from both countries.

Reflecting on the strong ties between Pretoria and Beijing, Nzimande noted that since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1998, the partnership has grown through mutual trust and shared goals.

Nzimande highlighted cooperation in trade, infrastructure, skills development, and people-to-people exchanges under what he described as a “comprehensive strategic partnership”.

The minister also welcomed China’s support for South Africa’s G20 presidency, saying the upcoming visit by the Chinese president in November further affirms the countries’ shared vision for sustainable development.
