A member of the Ugu District community policing forum (CPF) has been suspended after he was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol during a roadblock operation in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal.
The member, attached to the uMtentweni CPF sub-forum under the Port Shepstone Police Station, was arrested on the spot earlier this week following an operation led by the province's road traffic inspectorate.
He has since been released on R1,000 bail and is due to appear in court soon.
According to the CPF board, the member was not in a leadership position but served as an ordinary patroller who regularly volunteered.
