A clear motive to solicit hundreds of thousands of rands from tender tycoon and attempted murder-accused, Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala, by North West businessman and alleged information peddler, Brown Mogotsi, has been laid bare before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.

WhatsApp messages between Mogotsi and Matlala were revealed during the testimony of Crime Intelligence boss, Dumisani Khumalo, on Tuesday.

Mogotsi’s access to confidential police information allowed him to gain the trust of Matlala, who has been linked to the R2 billion Tembisa Hospital tender scandal.

From booking flights for people to attend a presidential gala dinner in Cape Town to large sums of money being deposited into the account of a little-known travel company, Matlala spent large sums of cash at the request of Mogotsi.

During his testimony before the Madlanga Commission, Khumalo made public messages between Mogotsi and Matlala that were extracted from Matlala’s WhatsApp.

On several occasions, Mogotsi requested Matlala to make payments to a company known as Gothle Specialists.

Company searches reveal the director of the Gothle specialists as Dorothy Oarabile Lekhoaba.

More interestingly, Lekhoaba, is also listed as a director of Brown Liquor Store, a company directly linked to Mogotsi.

Both Gothle Specialists and Brown Liquor Store are registered to the exact same address in the North West, being Airport Road in Mahikeng.

EWN previously reported that Mogotsi had two businesses registered to his name, Brown Liquor Store and Old School Village Restaurant, both based in Mahikeng.
