The African National Congress (ANC) has now confirmed that controversial North West businessman, Brown Mogotsi, is no longer a member of the party.
The party said that Mogotsi’s membership had lapsed.
Mogotsi has been making headlines following allegations that he acts as a middleman between the underworld and Police Minister Senzo Mchunu.
The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry heard this week that Mogotsi was involved in funding the minister and some ANC programmes.
In September, EWN revealed the criminal history of Mogotsi, who stands accused of interfering in police investigations.
Mogotsi has multiple cases registered against him, including assault, theft, and fraud, dating back as far as 1997.
At the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, WhatsApp messages were presented suggesting that Mogotsi facilitated favours for alleged crime boss, Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala, through an individual believed to be Mchunu.
Mchunu initially claimed he did not know Mogotsi, but later admitted the businessman was an ANC comrade.
The ANC, however, distances itself from Mogotsi and has confirmed that his membership had expired.
