NEHAWU slams Gauteng Health Dept for allowing senior officials to accept memorandum

Trade Union National Education, Health and Allied Workers' Union (NEHAWU) says senior officials of the Gauteng Health Department should be the ones to receive its memorandum of demands.
NEHAWU members are currently gathered outside the department's head office in Johannesburg's CBD, demanding that the health MEC address their concerns.

The union alleges that maladministration and corruption are rife at hospitals across the province.
NEHAWU's provincial chairperson, Sello Mafela, said they will not hand over their demands until they are addressed by officials.
Meanwhile, the officials have promised NEHAWU they will deliver the memorandum of demands to MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko.
NEHAWU members, who were joined by members of other unions, are jointly calling on the department to address their concerns.
Head of Human Resources at the department, Lucky Motsoge, said that although the MEC was not there to receive the memorandum, he will ensure she gets it.
"We have signed the memorandum, and we will make sure that the head Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko will definitely get it today."
