The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has apologised to beneficiaries who have been unable to access their grant payments on time this week.
On Thursday, some pensioners, despite receiving confirmation of payments, could not withdraw their grants.
Around 15,000 pensioners reported experiencing the issue.
It's unclear what the problem was, but SASSA admits there were technical difficulties between PayInc, a payment clearing company, and Capitec Bank.
Beneficiaries have since been able to access their grants.

SASSA spokesperson, Andile Tshona, said the agency is committed to ensuring that this does not occur again in the future.
"The technical teams worked around the clock to resolve the issue as a top priority. Should any clients still be experiencing a challenge, they can contact Capitec Bank, or they can contact our SASSA call centre."
