The African National Congress (ANC) has warned of an imminent, country-wide recall of its poor performing councillors.
The party’s National Executive Committee has convened a special three-day meeting at the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg to discuss its local government action plan.
The ANC’s highest decision-making body structure in-between conferences will also be finalising the qualification guidelines for all its councillor candidates for the upcoming local government elections.
On Saturday ANC Secretary General, Fikile Mbalula said that the party will be making changes to its list of deployed councillors.
"We will in the next coming weeks, as part of the local government action plan, brief the media about major interventions and changes we will be making into local government when it comes to ineptness and leadership at the level of local government across all provinces, informed by a detailed report on service delivery and performance of some of our public representatives at the level of local government.”
