Concerns raised about the amount of liquor confiscated on CT beaches during matric valedictory celebrations

Mayoral committee member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, said that officers seized almost 800 units of liquor.
"The amount of alcohol confiscated is of concern, particularly as we highlighted time and again that it is illegal to consume alcohol in public spaces, but also the potential consequences of driving or swimming under the influence. Fortunately, there were no major incidents reported during the valedictory celebrations."
The National Senior Certificate exams begin on Tuesday, 21 October and run until 26 November.
