Former Police Minister Bheki Cele has praised the late Nathi Mthethwa for his role during his tenure as minister saying he put up a good fight against crime in the country.

Cele worked as National Police Commissioner, when Mthethwa was minister.

He said together they were able to bring some changes to the service.

The changes include the reinforcements of crime tactical teams.

Cele said crime was not as rampant then saying crime statistics showed that work was being done during those times.

He added that Mthethwa was also a great person to be around in his personal capacity.

“He didn’t talk too much but whenever he spoke, he always spoke sense he is a person who you could always listen to him, and he is a person that even if you took him on, he would be always low," said Cele.
