Ramaphosa praises late Ambassador Mthethwa: 'A selfless leader'

President Cyril Ramaphosa has paid tribute to the late Ambassador Nathi Mthethwa, describing him as a selfless leader who dedicated his life to public service and the struggle for freedom.
Mthethwa’s final send-off is currently underway at the Siyabonga Sangweni Dondotha Stadium in KwaMbomambi, where he is being honoured with a Special Official Funeral, Category 2.

Delivering the eulogy, President Ramaphosa praised Mthethwa’s lifelong commitment to justice.
"Comrade Nathi Mthethwa never lost sight of what drew him to the struggle: the belief that injustice must be opposed, that people deserve dignity, they deserve rights and opportunity," Ramaphosa said.
The President noted that Mthethwa gave everything in service of the people.
"He exhibited people before self. Friends and comrades say that he was disciplined, loyal and sometimes a bit controversial, but always believing that he was working for we the people."
