The Good Party has accused lobby group AfriForum of attempting to whitewash members of the apartheid security forces accused of committing heinous crimes.
This follows AfriForum's formal submission to the inquiry into Truth and Reconciliation Commission cases, calling for a counter-probe into African National Congress (ANC) leaders.
The inquiry was set up earlier this year to investigate allegations of interference and efforts to stop the prosecution of TRC cases.
AfriForum CEO Kallie Kriel said the ANC has its own crimes to answer to.
"The families of the victims of the ANC's landmine and bomb attacks on civilians, such as the Van Eck family and others, also deserve answers."
But Good Party's secretary-general, Brett Herron, has described the move as political extortion to shield members of the apartheid security branch from accountability, rather than a bid for justice.
