YouTube goes down around the world for some users

On Wednesday, YouTube experienced a widespread outage that left users worldwide unable to access videos.

People reported playback errors, blank screens, and videos failing to load across YouTube, YouTube Music, and YouTube TV.

According to Downdetector, more than 300,000 users reported issues, prompting a flood of online searches like “Is YouTube down right now?”, “YouTube playback error” and “YouTube server status".

The outage quickly became a trending topic on X, with the hashtag #YouTubeDown gaining traction as frustrated and confused users flooded the platform.

Many initially thought the issue was related to their own internet connections before realising the problem was global.
