More than R20 million is owed to City Power by customers in Auckland park, Croesus, and Industria.
As part of its revenue recovery drive, the utility has disconnected electricity at a business park in arrears of R17 million, as well as a business complex in Industria west owing R4.9 million.
The disconnection campaign forms part of city power’s efforts to recover R1.6 billion owed to the Hursthill substation.
The utility said defaulting customers have two repayment options to avoid disconnection 30% upfront, with the balance payable over three months or 50% upfront, with the balance over six months.
City power spokesperson Isaac Mangena said “this action prompted our teams to monitor surrounding properties to ensure that compliance is happening around the area.”
City Power added that customers can still enter into an acknowledgment of debt agreement to avoid losing power.
